Traditional Teaching

Blackboard dominates traditional teaching platform. Teachers are liable to move freely in the classroom, free to write and draw on the blackboard. In this traditional setting, teachers utilize verbal and body language to motivate students; meanwhile, students are liable to come up to the platform for demonstration or presentation so as to participate in teaching activities. With its low cost, blackboard has been promoted and widely used since the mid-19th century. As we have entered the information era in the 21st century, however, blackboard teaching has turned out to be even more monotonous and less appealing. Blackboard teaching, therefore, can no longer meet the ever-increasing demand of e-teaching and e-learning.

Advantages: Free writing as one moves on the platform, teacher-student interaction through the presentation on the blackboard.
Disadvantages: Monotonous and rigid in presentation

In the late 20th century, audio-visual teaching platform emerged and greatly increased the diversity of classroom teaching with the flexible utilization of teaching resources such as audio, visual and animated materials, which initially realized informatization of teaching. Projection screen, the carrier of information exchange between teacher and student, on one hand, helped teachers to run and project the ready-made courseware, but confined them to the platform and mouse, unable to write, illustrate and annotate as freely as they did on traditional blackboard setting.

On the other hand, students were passively receiving the information and not much involved in teaching and learning. In this sense, the audio-visual platform virtually became a barrier in the communication between teachers and students since they could hardly interact. What's worse, the interaction in teaching and learning process is weakening, and therefore, in about 10 years, audio-visual method has been used only as a supplement to traditional teaching aids.

dvantages: An addition to teaching style, realization of information-oriented teaching Disadvantages: One-way projection, no writing input; no interaction between teacher and students

Interactive Teaching Method based on Labwe Whiteboard:

Labwe Interactive Electronic Whiteboard system is stable in performance and advanced in functions, which provides a authentic platform to practise interactive teaching and learning.

Interactive teaching platform based on interactive electronic whiteboard (including computers, projectors, interactive whiteboard) has fundamentally resolved the problems and deficiencies in the past teaching models and trully achieved “interaction in teaching and learning”. The interactive solution retains the essences of traditional teaching solution (Mobility) and audio-visual teaching solution (Abundance of audio and visual resources) and overcomes their weaknesses (Monotony of traditional teaching solution and unidirectivity of audio-visual teaching solution). It realizes high-quality and high-efficiency teaching in that it excels traditional solution in free writing, drawing and annotation, and that it provides the platform to utilize rich audio and visual resources. The advantages of interactive solution in teaching are highlighted in the following areas:

1. Teachers and students can conveniently utilize a whiteboard pen, a finger or any opaque object to replace the functions of traditional chalk. This can not only avoid a variety of hazards of chalk dust, but also save resources and fully realize healthy, environment-friendly, and energy-saving model of teaching.

2. The interactive solution can take advantage of a variety of multimedia resources. Moreover, it enables users to write or annotate at any time. Besides, The whole teaching process can be easily saved as video files and distributed to students. Therefore, students no longer need to distract their attention to taking notes, but to focus on the classroom activities. Teachers are liable to exchange ideas and do research with the help of the teaching videos, and thus improve teaching standards.

3. The interactive solution has expanded and enriched the functions of traditional computer multimedia tools, enhanced and improved the audio and visual effects. A series of interactive whiteboard software function modules such as drag and drop, camera, spotlight, curtain, paint, clone, playback functions add to the effects of presentation. Thus, the presentation grabs students' attention, improves their comprehension of the content, arouses their interests and involves them into the learning process.
