A chinese company - Labotrix has expressed intent to construct a factory that will manufacture education supplies, including laboratory equipment to be used in teaching science subjects in Tanzania.
A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications said that the Principal Manager of the company, Mr Boombo Jiang told President Jakaya Kikwete in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the prevailing peace and tranquility in the country have attracted the company to invest in Tanzania.
Mr Jiang met and held talks with the president at the State House yesterday. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Prof Jumanne Maghembe. Meanwhile President Kikwete has thanked Mr Jiang for choosing to invest in the country and assured the investor that there was a potential market for the quality education supplies; especially the laboratory apparatuses.
The president said that it was the right time for the investor to be in the country when the government has expanded the secondary school education for the last three years , and this creates a potential market for the science supplies. He added that the government will support the company to complete all the procedures to enable it to construct the factory ready for production.
